1998 Dallara IR8 Model Car Kit, 1/25 Scale
Forgoing the turbos in use in 1996, the Indy Racing League (IRL) switched to 4 liter naturally aspirated DOHC V-8s. The air intake became something of an identity point for the new car, including the Dallara. Manufactured in Italy by Gain Paolo Dallara, the IR8 has an oval shaped intake that makes it very easy to spot in a field of cars. In an effort to increase driver safety, allow for larger drivers, and to work towards an oval-specific car - rather than a road/oval compromise - the typical IRL car is slightly larger overall than previous generations.
In 1998, the Dallara captured eight of eleven races in the IRL series. The design changes of the car, a dominant Aurora V-8 and Goodyear tires combined to help Eddie Cheever win the 82nd running of the 500.
Kit includes resin and white metal components, plus decals for the 1998 winner and season champion.
