Da Vinci Spingarde Plastic Model Kit by Academy
Designed by Leonardo da Vinci, the Spingarde is an early field artillery unit on wheeled chassis. The weapon featured a multi-part gun with a metal spring-loaded breech capable of launching bolt projectiles. The Spingarde had a removable roof and mounts on a cradle that allowed for adjustment of the angle and elevation of the cannon. Beautifully detailed working model kit is easy to build, with no glue, paint or tools required and complete step-by-step instructions.
Arguably one of the most diversely talented and accomplished individuals to have ever lived, Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, botanist and writer. Often described as the archetype of the Renaissance man, da Vinci's unquenchable curiosity was equaled only by his inventive genius.
A master of technological ingenuity, Leonardo conceptualized, among many others inventions, a helicopter, a tank, a paddleboat, a self-propelling cart, concentrated solar power, a calculator, the double hull and outlined a rudimentary theory of plate tectonics. As a scientist, he greatly advanced the state of knowledge in the fields of anatomy, civil engineering, optics, and hydrodynamics.
