Tamiya 1:48 Scale Steyr Type 1500A Kommandeurwagen Light Truck Model Kit with 2 Figures

By adopting the scale traditionally reserved for aircraft models, Tamiya's 1:48 scale military model kit series opens up a new world of possibilities for builders. While these exceptionally realistic kits make excellent single-subject displays, they really shine when they are placed in dioramas with either aircraft, AFVs, or both.

With the quick advances of their mechanized Blitzkrieg tactics, vehicles like the Kommandeurwagen were needed to move German army commanders and generals from place to place as their army pushed forward. Based on a 4-door version of the Austrian Steyr 1500A/01 light truck, the Kommandeurwagen was powered by an 85hp 8-cylinder engine and offered good cross-country performance. As this was a commander's vehicle, modifications included a more spacious 5-person cabin as opposed to the truck's usual 8-person capacity, with leather seats and a front passenger seat that could recline to form a bed. High-level German commanders on all fronts used these versatile trucks as their personal vehicles.
