Driven by a steam boiler that could produce up to 2000 hp and achieve speeds up to 14 knots, Sanson tugboats were capable of quickly traversing the roughest waters to assist much larger vessels in distress at sea during this peak period of trans-oceanic commercial and passenger travel.
