Crosby's Coal was located in Danby, VT, on the Rutland. Its rail-serving coal bins were built in 1914 and still stand today. Hopper loads of coal would be unloaded into the coal bins, then sold to homes and businesses in town. Similar retail coal dealers could be found in towns nationwide.
