The knurled brass knob draws in and closes the collet. Do not tighten the knob if the collet is empty, otherwise the collet will jam inside the handle. When this occurs, the knob must be loosened several turns and tapped on a hard surface to push the collet out of the handle. | |
SLOTS ALIGNED (Handle End View) | When using wide blades like the no. 2 blade, keyhole blade and gouge, align the slots in the collet with the slots in the handle. |
SLOTS NOT ALIGNED (Handle End View) | |
| When using narrow blades like the no. 11, or when using collet nut or vise head assembly, turn the collet so that the slots do not align. | |
