Instructions for Use | ||
| The laser-cut plywood sheet included in this package includes eight HO scale staircase stringers. To remove the stringers from the sheet, use a sharp hobby knife (fitted with a no. 11 blade) to cut through the tiny tabs on the bottom edge of each stringer. Be careful not to damage the remainder of the sheet; you will be using it later. Use a sanding pad to smooth the leftover tabs on the bottom of the stringer. Trim the stringers to the length you need for your project. The remaining sheet is designed to be used as an assembly fixture by placing stringers into the slots labeled A, B, C and/or D. You can use any combination of slots to produce your desired staircase; however, we recommend using slots A and B for a standard-width, two-stringer staircase. For a wide staircase, we recommend using three stringers placed in slots B, C and D. Be sure to place the stringers all the way to one end of the slot to assure correct horizontal alignment. Note: The tread is longer than the riser. | ||

| Use 1/8" wide x .020" thick stripwood (Micro-Mark #83957; not included) for tread material. Cut the treads .025" longer than the overall width of the stringer assembly. Glue three treads in place on the stringers...one at the top, one at the bottom, and one half-way between. Before the glue dries, be sure to check the treads and stringers for correct alignment. Then glue in place the remaining treads. Be careful not to get any glue between the stringers and the sheet; otherwise, removing the completed staircase from the sheet will be difficult. When assembly is complete, place a sheet of sandpaper on a flat surface and gently sand the edges of the treads to make them even. Your staircase should then look like this: | ||
