April 2012 marks the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic
She was the largest passenger liner of her day, and the sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 1912, resulted in the loss of over 1500 passengers and crew. Many of the maritime safety procedures and precautions followed today are the result of lessons learned from this tragic event.
