The Santa Maria was a merchant vessel with a single deck and three masts, comparable in size to a modern cruising yacht. The largest and slowest of Columbus' 3 ships, she was the flagship of the expedition that led to the discovery of the 'New World' in 1492. After running aground off the present-day site of Cap-Haitien, Haiti, on December 24 of that same year, Columbus ordered his men to strip the timbers from the ship . . . which were used later to build a fort which he named La Navidad (Christmas).

This high-quality kit includes high-precision laser-cut wood parts and strips; brass nails, eyebolts, hinges and capstan; cast-metal deck fittings; pre-sewn cloth sails; rigging line; flag; detailed assembly instructions with photographs and a set of drawings. Plank-on-frame hull construction. Recommended for advanced level modelers. Length: 22.0 in.; height: 19.1 in.; beam: 10.2 in. Scale 1/65. Artesania Latina kit #22411.
