Artesania Latina Cutty Sark Ship Kit, 1/84 Scale (Compatible with HO)
The British clipper ship Cutty Sark was built in 1869 at Dumbarton (Scotland). She was one of the last, and fastest, clippers ever built for the China tea trade. But her service in this venture was cut short by the rise of steamships, which found easier passage through the recently opened Suez Canal. Despite these changes to the sea trade, she continued on as a cargo ship, transporting Australian wool until her return to the UK in 1923. In 1954, she was restored and moved to a custom-built dry-dock. Now listed as part of the National Historic Fleet, she greets visitors near Greenwich, in southeast London. The elegance of her line, her incredible speed and her wealth of details have all contributed to the legend of the mighty Cutty Sark.
Kit features high-precision laser-cut hardwoods, plank on bulkhead construction, hardwood fittings including deadeyes, blocks and cleats, brass stanchions, rings, belaying pins, eyebolts, navigation lights and housings, rudder hinges, chain, bell, chimney and mastheads, plus die-cast anchors, bitts, boats, boat frames, davits, signaling cannon, life rings, figurehead, trusses, hoops and more. Includes rigging, cloth flag and pennants. The step-by-step full color instruction manual and detailed plans make this incredible ship model a pleasure to build. Recommended for advanced level modelers. Length: 40.6 in.; height: 24.5 in.; beam: 14.0 in. Scale 1/84. Artesania Latina kit #22800.
