Finely-detailed Craftsman Kits of Distinctive American Freight Cars by Funaro and Camerlengo

In 1939, there came a sudden need for boxcars. The war in Europe wsa heating up and US involvement was inevitable. Based on cars from 1937, the PRR had cars fabricated with wider side sheets, resulting in an unusual rivet pattern. The roof, however, was the usual X36 in-house design. The recessed end walks allowed the construction of a car with maximum cubic capacity, while still meeting clearance restrictions.

In December 1939, delivery of single door X37 boxcars began. This was followed by the delivery of double door X37A boxcars in April 1940. The cars had a long life span, with some cars lasting well into the 1970s.

Kit features: Unpainted cast-resin pieces, decals, detailed instructions, and all details, except trucks and couplers (sold separately by Micro-Mark).

Assembly requires only simple tools, but some model building experience is recommended.

Color: Boxcar Red/Brown
