Mamoli Blackbeard Ship Model Kit, 1/57 Scale
What we know about the exploits of Blackbeard; the ill-famed pirate, is a mix of history, legend and fiction. Edward Teach, purportedly his real name, boarded and plundered an enormous number of ships, which made him the infamous ‘Terror of the Seas’, even though this adventurous life of his lasted only twenty months. He was such a terrifying person that his victims were paralyzed with fear and surrendered immediately upon seeing him.
The French slave ship La Concorde was captured by Teach, modified and renamed Queen Anne's Revenge. The vessel which was capable of fighting off any Navy warship of the times, was equipped with 40 guns and manned by a crew of more than 300 men. Led by Blackbeard they pirated the West Indies and American colonies until it was run aground after striking a sandbar off the coast of North Carolina and eventually sunk.
The Queen Anne's Revenge was discovered in 1996 submerged in 28 ft. of water, one mile offshore near Atlantic Beach, NC. Kit contains laser cut frames and false keel. Double planked in beech and walnut. Most fittings are cast white metal, blocks, dead-eyes and belaying pins are walnut.
