Rapido® EMD GP38 Locomotive B&O #3840, HO Scale
General Motors’ Electro-Motive Division achieved success pretty early on, having developed and marketed a variety of 4-axle road switchers beginning with the GP7. In 1966 EMD unveiled the latest “Geep” the 2000 horsepower GP38, a lower hp and longer version than the 3000 hp GP40 from the year before. It featured a new style radiator grille, straighter sill, redesigned fuel tank, dual control stands, steam generators for passenger service, lighting and short hood options for specific railroads.
Rapido Trains offers the most detailed GP38 model ever, as well as variations that have never before been offered. LED lighting, cab interiors, and many previously overlooked details have been included as well.
