The WonderCutter S Ultrasonic Cutter

This is a pricey little feller. It's also almost magical for what it can do in cutting brittle materials. For that reason, I give it a solid thumbs up and it greatly simplifies my post 3d printing process. Also, a dust filter is a must when using it.

Pretty interesting machine, I really want to use it for leather and it is ok for that but it took me a while to find the correct cutting mat. Because it passes thru the standard cutting mat used for exacto you need something different, I found that a cork sheet 1/4" thick works well.

This thing is amazing. Easily slices through all kinds of materials. Yes, expensive, but I tried every DIY method first, and nothing comes close to this. So full 5+ stars.

One thing to point out. The knife blade pictured is misleading. It's much smaller than an X-Acto blade. For working on modeling and 3-D prints, it is perfect. But I also intended to use it for horizontally cutting cork for a train layout, and the blade is too short for that. So for that I will need to do a couple of passes.

It gets hot. For plastic, it can remelt back together, but you will be able to sort out a pace.

The coiled wire itself and coming from the back is a bit of a drag. I would have expected that the wire for the handle to come out the front and be detachable. While the coiled wire is a nice quality, it is also thick and tightly coiled. And the unit it pretty light. So even though the little piece on the bottom tilts up as a stand, you still end up dragging it around on your desk.

I wasn't sure whether this was going to be worth it or not but i liked the idea of easily cutting thru plastic so i thought i'dgive it a try. This is my go to tool now It was useful taking supports off my fdm prints but since i switched to a resin printer it's INDISPENSIBLE! It glides thru resin supports like butter never having to worry about accidentally breaking off a small but important detail etc. You will not be sorry if you purchase this for removing 3d printing suports

I've been using this for about a year now, and while I didn't care for it at first, if you stay with it, you learn what this tool can and cannot do. It's a perfect carver for paring away small amounts at a time. It's also terrific for cutting out repetitive cuts (such as when I had to cut out 108 square cannon ports. What it won't do is cut deeply, you have to take your time, and you will be rewarded with precision. The blades look two sided, but they really aren't, and they will dull quickly. Change the blades, don't try to get that one extra cut, you will only burn your material and the blade. And do NOT overtighten the setscrew that holds the blade. It's why they give you extras. My first one stripped out the allen "hole" and I had to use CA on the allen wrench to get it off. Take much shallower cuts than you would with a regular blade, and you will be rewarded. I would have given it 3 stars, now it's a 5 and well worth the price.

Works very well. Easy to make delicate and precise cuts. The only thing I don't like about it is the cord. It is too stiff and can cause some control issues for that reason. Also, because the cord in on the back, the unit constantly spins around so you are always realigning it to place the cutter back in the storage hole. I solved this by replacing the cord on mine with a longer soft, flexible cord. Over all, I'm very glad I bought it.
