Atlas® O Scale Turntable

Created as a method for turning early steam locomotives (which weren't intended to run in reverse for long periods) back in the direction from where they came; turntables or wheelhouses were an essential part of most early railroads. With the advent of diesel trains which have a designated "front" and "rear", turntables ensured the locomotive was run "front end first", as some railways required.
